We had 14 new teams join the trail Saturday at Lake Norman
pushing our total membership up to 49 teams. The 2011 Greene Boat & Motor
Championship will be held on Lake Norman October 8-9 and all you have to do to
qualify is to fish 4 out of the 6 qualifiers. The use of a sub will count once
toward the 4 tournaments needed so it’s plenty easy enough to qualify. Last
year 1st Place at the Championship took home over $6,000.00 and we
look to top that this year. Also if you win the points you can collect $1000.00
and the 2nd place team in the point race will receive a brand new
Minn Kota trolling motor.
This past Saturday at Lake Norman we were met with probably
the best weather we’ve had in 2011 to go fishing. 43 teams would probably
agree. Pinnacle Access was overflowing with boat trailers and there would be a
lot of competition for prime areas.
Rodney Morrow fishing solo brought in a mixed bag of Spotted
bass and Largemouth bass weighing up at 15.13 lbs good enough for 1st place. Rodney collected $1,300.00!
Butch Holder and Cliff Kirby finished in 2nd place with 14.65 lbs and they also collected the 2nd place Big Fish
money with a 4.66 lb bass. All total they received $1,083.00.
3rd went to Ted Geddis and Bill Warren with a
total weight of 13.27 lbs and they received $520.00. Their 3.62 lb Big Fish
broke a tie pushing them to 3rd place.
Doug Punch and Tim Bumgarner took 4th with a
limit weighing 13.24 and they collected $350.00.
Jeff & KJ Queen finished in 5th place with
another limit weighing 13.21 lbs anchored by a fat 3.99 lb Spot caught by KJ.
They received $225.00.
Rusty White and Ron Farrow took 6th with 12.54
lbs and received $170.00.
Last money paying place went to Chris Marshall and Scott
Willis with a total weight of 12.52 lbs and they took home $140.00.
Matt Haywood and Michael Steele brought in a nice 5.21 lb
bass and they collected a whopping $602.00 for 1st place Big Fish.
Next up is March 5th at Lake Wylie. The work on
Buster Boyd Access should be complete by then and we will launch out of there.
If anything comes up check the Greene Boat & Motor website and the CATT
website. We will post a location change if need be.
The 2011 CATT Lake Norman Spring Trail will kick off March 5
out of Midway Marine. Check the CATT site for more info. www.catttrail.com
