Contingency program doubles tournament winnings of two Kansas
City, Mo., anglershttp://www.greeneboats.com. SMITHVILLE, Mo. (May 7, 2009) – Stratos boat owners Bob Kitterman of Smithville, Mo., and
Darrell Reach of Kansas City, Mo., recently parlayed their participation in one
of America’s most lucrative and accessible contingency programs into more than
just a day of great fishing. Competing in their program-eligible Stratos boats
during their first-place finishes in local tournaments, each angler doubled his
prize money thanks to the pace-setting rewards of the Stratos 2X “Double Your
Winnings” program. Competing in the Stratos 2X-participating Joe Bass
Team Trail tournament on April 26 at Missouri’s Lake Truman, Reach – along with
partner John Bennett – wowed the crowd with an impressive five-fish limit that
weighed 27.35 pounds, including a tournament-best 6.17-pound bass. Their success
on Truman resulted in a first-place prize of $1,500. With the Stratos 2X “Double
Your Winnings” program, Reach also pockets an additional $1,500 from the boat
brand. “I’ve been tournament fishing for 30 years; the majority of that
time has been spent in a Stratos. I spent last year in another brand but I
really missed the performance and feel of my Stratos,” said Reach, a detective
with the Kansas City Police Department, who fishes from a 2009 Stratos 201XL
Evolution. “The 2X program was a huge factor in my decision to come back because
of all the tournaments that are included in the program. Now I can double my
money while fishing out of the fastest and best-performing boat I’ve ever
owned.” Much like Reach, Kitterman also fished a Stratos 2X-eligible
tournament: the Mid States Tournament Association. During an April 26th tournament on Smithville
Lake, Kitterman – who was randomly paired with non-boating partner, Steve Best,
as part of the event’s format – won $1,400 in first-place prize money and an
additional $1,400 from the Stratos 2X “Double Your Winnings” program. The team’s
26.60-pound, five-fish limit was one of the largest weights recorded during a
tournament in the lake’s recent history and included a 6.40-pound kicker fish –
the second-largest fish of the tournament that was worth $300 in prize money.
The news got even better for Kitterman: he also collected $1,000 in
Smithville Marine Bonus Bucks for competing in a boat purchased from the
full-line Stratos dealer. “I’ve been fortunate enough to win some
fish-off tournaments that paid out pretty well, but as far as a single day of
fishing in a normal tournament, the fish we caught and the prize money won from
Mid States and Stratos made it one of best tournament days I’ve ever had,” said
Kitterman, a retired manager of a building-supply company, who fishes from a
2007 Stratos 201XL powered by a 225-horsepower Evinrude E-TEC. “If you aren’t
fishing a Stratos boat from Smithville Marine, you’re leaving a lot of money on
the table. For us guys who are always looking to make extra money to support our
fishing, the 2X program is the ticket.” Joann Austin, owner/manager of
Smithville Marine, said the Stratos 2X program has helped a large number of
anglers – like Reach and Kitterman – to make the most of their fishing while
taking home even larger tournament winnings. “The anglers recognize
the big potential of participating in the program for anglers fishing almost
every level of tournaments,” said Austin, whose dealership has been a Stratos
dealer since the brand’s inception. “Pair the 2X program with the fact that
Stratos is now producing the best product that it has ever made in its 25-year
history and that makes Stratos the obvious choice here and lots of other
places.” For more information on the Stratos Boats 2X “Double Your
